Why the name “Soloft”?
It started with the intersection of a few personally meaningful ideas.
The day I started thinking about setting up this solo travel coaching service, I knew it had to have the word “solo” in there somewhere. A lot of people associate the word “solo” with being lonely. However, I completely disagree. Finding comfort and joy in one’s own company, without any distractions, is a transformative power that very few get to experience.
Then I was also thinking about how my solo travel experiences have nourished my soul and mental health over the last decade. I wanted to incorporate elements of words such as soul and upliftment in the title. I wanted to capture this essence in a name that was both meaningful and catchy. The word “loft” seemed like the perfect fit. It evokes a sense of elevation, a higher plane of existence. And when you combine it with “solo,” you get Soloft.
Soloft also has the word “oft” (short for often) in it, so you could break it down as solo-oft, which is a reminder to travel solo often! And finally, and completely unintended, the word Soloft also sounds like a famous antidepressent used to improve a variety of mental health conditions. A complete coincidence, but quite apt!
