Solo travel = Collection of solo experiences

Many people think of travel as venturing out into a new country or even a new continent. For people who are new to solo travel, this can feel intimidating and too big of a challenge.

A way to feel more confident and prepared is to think of solo travel as a series or collection of various solo experiences. Each solo experience can be as big or small as you want it to be e.g. dining alone, talking to strangers, taking public transport, navigating using maps, asking for help, using translation apps, etc. Doing each of these things by yourself for the first time is no small feat and the lessons learned will help you in other domains of life.

The more you practice these skills at home, the more normalized they become and then the less scary they are to execute in a new environment. What you need is the willingness to take the risk and have someone hold you accountable, everything else will follow.
